For a long time, it was reported that MediaTek is working on a new successor of its Dimensity 9000 CPU, expected to lie in the flagship segment and will be a direct competitor of Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen2. However, there was no news regarding the launch of this chipset until yet.
This morning, Mediatek officially announced that the company is going to hold an event on November 8 at 2:30 PM (Chinese Timing). In the official announcement, the company clearly mentioned that a new Dimensity product (CPU) with more robust performance would be released at this event.
Before going into further details, it is worth mentioning that this new CPU will be named “Dimensity 9200.” The officials, while talking about the new flagship CPU, have also hinted that a better performance (than previous generation SoC) and ultra-low power consumption would also be the main characteristics of this CPU.
In terms of specifications, the new Dimensity 9200 will feature the all-new Cortex-X3 Super Core and the latest Immortalis-G715 MC11 GPU (an upgrade over the previous Mali-G710 MC10 GPU). As per previously revealed benchmarks, the new GPU in Dimensity 9200 will break all the previous records in android smartphone history.
Further, last week, a Dimensity 9200 powered device was also listed on AnTuTu benchmark in which the device scored around 1.26 million points, which is again the highest in Android smartphone history. The current highest score is about 1.14 million points, belonging to ROG 6D (powered by Dimensity 9000+).
It is expected that the upcoming flagship devices in the Redmi K60 lineup, Vivo X100 lineup, and many other major smartphone manufacturers, including OPPO, Honor and OnePlus, will use this flagship in their upcoming affordable flagship smartphones.
