Snapdragon 8 Gen2 to Have Ultra-High Frequency Version

Recently, Qualcomm officially announced the Snapdragon Summit event, which will happen in November 2022. The company will probably announce the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chipset at this event, which is one month earlier than expected. Qualcomm usually holds this event in December every year.

The latest news from the industry claims that the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen2 will be very different in terms of performance from its predecessor. This afternoon, the famous blogger @Digital Chat Station (on Weibo) stated some latest leaks regarding Qualcomm’s upcoming processor.

Snapdragon 8 Gen2 Higher Frequency

As pe the blogger, the next generation CPUs is expected to achieve a higher 3.4-3.5GHz frequency; the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 will also have an ultra-high frequency with new cores architecture, and the GPU would also have significant improvement. The Dimensity 9 series (from Mediatek) will continue to pile up the CPU.

The blogger also mentioned that overclocked/extreme performance of GPU in Android flagship chipsets (like Snapdragon 8 Gen1 and Dimensity 9000) has already defeated the Apple A16 Bionic CPU’s GPU. However, the difference between CPU and lower power consumption is still very obvious.

Previously, the blogger also revealed that the all-new Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chipset would be based on TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process. Moreover, there will be no significant difference in the Plus version of the chipset like we have seen this year (between Snapdragon 8 Gen1 and 8+ Gen1).

Qualcomm will launch an overclocked version of the standard chipset which means that the only difference between the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 and 8+ Gen2 would be a higher frequency on Super-Core.

It is also reported that the product’s lineup will return to normal, and there will be no three release of a flagship lineup’s successor like we have seen this year. There would be only two generation releases of a specific series, one in the year’s first half and the second in the other half.

The new Snapdragon 8 Gen2 powered smartphones are expected to be released at Spring Festival Gala.
